APART Pizza Company expands to Edgewater/Uptown, adds exotic European dessert
Recently lauded in the Chicago Tribune as one of Chicago’s best thin-crust pizzerias—continues to build on its astounding success, opening its second store in as many years in the city’s Uptown neighborhood this month.
The new store, at 5624 N. Broadway, joins APART’s Lincoln Square location (2205 W. Montrose Ave.) and firmly establishes APART’s place in Chicago’s pizza scene.
True to its name, APART has a self-styled menu built around customized pies, the creations of a committed, hearty group of Italian craftsmen. Owner Torsten Reiss and head pizza chef Gregor Baur, both hailing from the northern Italy, have turned their expertise and passion into a menu that runs the gamut from the traditional Margherita (made from a secret blend of cheeses) to the exotic Francese (which blends mozzarella, ham, brie, egg and oregano, with a side of cranberry sauce!).
APART has also added a distinctive dessert called filoncino (fill-on-chee-no) to their menu. Filoncini are Italian sweet pies made of homemade dough, rolled with chocolate, mango, apricot, apple, or blueberry fillings. They come piping hot, topped with sugar, cinnamon, and hazelnut.
In a word, sweet!
Opened in March, 2006, APART has earned stellar reviews on Centerstage Chicago, Time Out magazine and the Chicago Tribune, which raved: “awesome thin-crust pizza—perhaps the best in the city.” For more information, call 773-588-1550.
